Why should you consider video for websites?
Amatis Video specialise in helping businesses create video for websites as a marketing tool and using it to promote their business. David’s background is making documentaries and the presentation that he gave at Guildford’s 4Networking meeting clearly demonstrated his skills and professionalism.
In his 15 minutes presentation he shot a promotional video for 4Networking, explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it as he went along. He’d primed a few interviewees beforehand (you might recognise one of them!). The questions he’d prepared were such that he would gain the content that he’d planned for. David then did the editing during the 30 minutes whilst we were having our one-to-one meetings. At the end of the meeting we watched the premiere, which you can see now.
Here are David’s reasons why you should consider video on your website:
- If your business is all about personal service – a video can explain your passion and enthusiasm better than any other medium
- A video will keep people on your web page up to 5 times longer than if you don’t have a video
- 59% of chief executives prefer to watch video then read text on a webpage
And these are his top tips for making your own videos:
- Always use an external microphone
- Adding a light, even a cheap one, will help to lift your subject
- Allow “looking space” when interviewing people – don’t put the person in the centre of the image
- Rehearse your subject before filming
- Consider what’s going on in the background – it will affect how much focus there is on the main subject and also affects the context of the video
